3x Revenue Growth on a Modern Defense Tech Platform

Challenge

A US defense and aerospace technology company that has grown through acquisitions across multiple business units needed a modern technology stack to support both its M&A-driven scale and the security requirements of working with US government and military customers. By 2023, the existing footprint included multiple Salesforce orgs and four separate ERP environments inherited through acquisition, none of which were built around the FedRAMP-compliant posture the company needed to operate at the pace its market demanded.

The goal was a consolidated, modern, multi-platform stack: Salesforce on the front office for capture-to-quote and customer-facing workflows, Oracle Fusion on the back office for ERP, SCM, and EPM, the two integrated for unified product and pricing orchestration across channels, and all of it deployed in a FedRAMP-compliant configuration with global reach.

Solution

Apex IT has supported the company since 2023, when the first Salesforce Gov Cloud deployment went live. The work has expanded steadily since then: as a Salesforce aerospace and defense partner, Apex has implemented Salesforce Sales & Revenue Cloud (CPQ), Salesforce Service & Field Service, and the Salesforce Customer Portal experience layer, with Salesforce Commerce Cloud now in build. The ongoing Salesforce managed services relationship has scaled alongside the company’s growth, with the implementation work feeding directly into the run-state support that keeps the platform healthy.

On the back-office side, the company has consolidated four separate ERP environments into a single Oracle Fusion footprint covering Oracle ERP Cloud, Oracle SCM Cloud, and Oracle EPM Cloud. The consolidation has been integrated with the Salesforce front office through a unified product and pricing orchestration layer, enabling the company to sell across multiple channels from a single source of truth. This is what Salesforce ERP for aerospace and defense looks like in practice: a Salesforce front end handling capture-to-quote and customer engagement, an Oracle back end handling finance, supply chain, and performance management, and the integration discipline to make them feel like one system to operators.

The Salesforce Sales Cloud implementation anchors the end-to-end capture-to-quote motion, including the automated spare replenishment process that connects field-detected demand directly into the supply chain. Salesforce supply chain management capabilities surface field and channel demand into the back office, where Oracle SCM Cloud orchestrates through to fulfillment. The pattern provides the company with the operational flexibility to support its growth without manual reconciliation across systems.

Results

Over the life of the program, the company has seen 3x revenue growth, and the platform now processes roughly 1,200 subscriptions monthly. The four-ERP consolidation has eliminated the duplicate finance, supply chain, and EPM environments that the acquisition-driven footprint had accumulated. The Salesforce front office provides sales, service, and field teams with a consistent operating model, and the FedRAMP-compliant configuration positions the company to continue selling to government and military customers that drive its business. As the company continues its M&A trajectory, the consolidated stack is built to absorb the next acquisitions without rebuilding the operating model.

FEATURED SOLUTIONS

Strategy & Consulting Services

The hardest work happens before go-live. It’s also the work that decides whether everything after it was worth doing. Connect with our team to see what real strategic partnership can do for your business.

Artificial Intelligence

Apex IT is already inside this work, every day, in our consulting practice and on our customers’ platforms. We learn AI the way we’ve learned every platform shift since 1997: by building with it, alongside customers who are ready to make it a part of how their business actually runs.

Technology Implementations

An implementation is the operating foundation your business will rely on long after the project ends. We build it for that horizon from day one, and we hold the work to the exacting standards that a long-running platform demands.

Managed Services

Managed Services work picks up where most engagements drop off. The architects and consultants who built your system stay involved into the run phase, so the institutional knowledge that comes from implementation goes with you into operations instead of resetting at the handoff.

Cloud Migrations

A cloud migration is one of the few chances a business gets to step back and ask what its platform should actually look like. Apex IT ensures every answer is built directly into the work.

Data Management

Clean, governed, connected data is the least visible part of a transformation and the part that decides the most. Apex IT has done this work through every platform era since 1997, and we bring that experience to the records your business depends on. Talk with our team about where your data stands today, and what it would take to trust it completely.
